Our Nursery Programme
From Pre-Nursery through to Nursery, every stage of KiddiWinkie's nursery curriculum is intentionally designed around how young children learn: through play, inquiry and meaningful connection. As a private early childhood preschool rooted in neuroscience, KiddiWinkie serves families across Singapore, with a nursery preschool in Bukit Timah, a nursery near Marine Parade, and nine other locations.
Our nursery classes are rooted in neuroscience and brought to life through our Natural Rhythm® framework, following a carefully structured daily flow that honours each child's energy, attention and developmental readiness. Rather than pushing academic milestones prematurely, we focus on building the all-important cognitive, emotional and social foundations.
Pre-Nursery is designed for children who are approximately 3 years old and marks an important transition from toddler to preschool life. The daily rhythm balances structured routines, such as morning circle time, mealtimes and rest, with ample space for sensory play and outdoor learning .
Through guided storytelling, outdoor discovery and hands-on play with purposefully chosen materials, every activity is mapped to your child's developmental milestones. Every activity has a purpose, and every purpose supports a growing brain.
In Pre-Nursery, children will be introduced to:
- Bilingual literacy foundations: Early Mandarin and English are woven into daily storytelling, songs and guided conversation.
- Numeracy concepts: Numbers, shapes and simple patterns are explored through hands-on materials and play.
- Social-emotional learning: Children learn to take turns, express feelings and build meaningful friendships.
- Gross and fine motor development: Developed through purposeful play, art and movement activities.
- Enrichment exposure: Introductory sessions in music, movement and creative arts spark curiosity and self-expression.
- Self-regulation and independence: Confidence is built gradually through managing routines, transitions and personal needs.
KiddiWinkie's Pre-Nursery enrichment programme is guided by neuroscience principles, ensuring that every activity supports healthy brain development during this critical window of growth. By the end of the year, children leave with a stronger sense of self, a growing love of learning, and the social tools they need to thrive alongside their peers.
Nursery builds meaningfully on the foundations of N1 for children who are approximately 4 years old. The daily structure introduces longer project-based learning sessions, encouraging children to ask questions, hypothesise and draw connections. Children also take on greater independence in managing their own routines.
The Nursery programme places a strong emphasis on future school readiness. By the time children complete their nursery journey at KiddiWinkie, they leave with the bilingual communication skills, early literacy and numeracy foundations and emotional confidence needed for a smooth transition to Kindergarten 1.
In Nursery, children will develop:
- Stronger bilingual communication: Children build vocabulary and sentence construction across English and Mandarin.
- Pre-writing and emergent reading skills: Phonics awareness, letter recognition and early writing readiness are introduced progressively.
- Mathematical thinking: Children explore counting, comparing quantities and simple problem-solving through play.
- Critical thinking and curiosity: Nurtured through KiddiWinkie's Natural Rhythm® approach, which mirrors the brain's natural learning cycles.
- Social confidence and resilience: Developed through collaborative projects, peer discussions and emotional regulation strategies .
- Enrichment integration: Children participate in dedicated sessions spanning music, physical education and creative expression.
- School readiness skills: Attention, listening, independence and the ability to follow multi-step instructions are practised daily.
Together, the nursery years form a coherent, progressive programme in Singapore that prepares children for the transition to Kindergarten 1 with confidence, curiosity and emotional resilience.

The KiddiWinkie Nursery Environment
At KiddiWinkie, our nursery environment reflects our belief that where a child learns is just as important as what they learn. Every detail, from classroom layout to materials selection, is thoughtfully designed to stimulate curiosity, support independence, and create a sense of calm and belonging for young children.
Experienced Nursery Educators Trained in Child Development
KiddiWinkie is known for our team of highly qualified educators, who bring both academic grounding and genuine warmth to every classroom. All our educators hold relevant early childhood qualifications recognised by ECDA and undergo continuous professional development in neuroscience-informed teaching practices.
Selected as much for their empathy and patience as their credentials, our educators are trained to respond to each child's developmental needs with skill and intention. Parents can expect open, regular communication about their child's progress and daily experiences, because we believe the strongest outcomes happen when families and educators work closely together.
Safe, Stimulating Nursery Classrooms
At KiddiWinkie, our nursery classrooms are thoughtfully designed to support the growing minds within it. Bright, well-resourced and structured around distinct learning zones, children can move easily between modes of learning throughout the day. Materials are carefully chosen to be age-appropriate, open-ended, and aligned with the developmental goals of each level.
All 11 of our centres are ECDA-licensed and maintained to the highest standards of safety, hygiene and child-appropriate design. Secure access systems and stringent safeguarding give parents complete peace of mind from the moment they drop off their child.
Playtinkers™
Playtinkers™ is a hands-on learning experience designed to develop problem-solving skills through loose parts play. Children are encouraged to think critically, explore creative solutions, and apply early numeracy concepts in real-world scenarios.
As they build, sort, and create, they sharpen essential 21st-century skills like collaboration, communication, active listening, and decision-making. These open-ended activities nurture confidence, independence, and the ability to think flexibly – preparing children for primary school and beyond.
Through Playtinkers™, we help children grow into confident thinkers who are ready to face challenges with curiosity and resilience.
Author’s Universe™
Children step into the world of authors and illustrators, exploring how stories are crafted and shared. They experiment with ideas, voice, and structure—building early writing habits, critical thinking, and pride in communicating their own narratives.
Backpack Stories™
Backpack Stories invites children to “travel” through stories that open windows on people, places, and cultures. Along the way they practise listening, recall, and discussion skills while making meaningful connections between books and the wider world.
Chinese Cultural Immersion Programme
Through songs, festivals, customs, and hands-on experiences, children deepen their appreciation of Chinese language and culture. The programme supports confident communication, cultural awareness, and joyful participation in Mandarin-rich activities.
Kiddi Newsroom™
Young learners explore age-appropriate topics in the “newsroom,” practising how to share ideas clearly and respectfully. Activities strengthen vocabulary, comprehension, and presentation skills while encouraging curiosity about local and global events.
Chinese Reading Programme
Guided reading experiences help children recognise characters, read with increasing fluency, and enjoy Chinese texts. Routines build stamina, comprehension strategies, and the confidence to pick up books independently.
Super Readers, Super Heroes
Children discover the “superpowers” of readers—prediction, inference, and making connections—through lively stories and games. The programme celebrates progress, motivates regular reading habits, and links literacy strengths to everyday confidence.
Pic-a-Book (Pre-Nursery)
Designed for younger children, this programme blends storytelling, dramatisation, and play to develop early verbal expression and comprehension in both English and Chinese.
At KiddiWinkie Schoolhouse, we believe that a child’s learning journey should be as diverse and dynamic as the world around them. That’s why we embed a range of enrichment programmes directly into our core preschool curriculum. These experiences support holistic development across physical, cognitive, social, and creative domains.
These programmes are not optional extras. They are thoughtfully designed and integrated into the daily schedule to enhance developmental outcomes, spark joy in learning, and build essential 21st-century skills from the earliest years.
Enrichment offerings may vary by centre, depending on the needs and interests of the children. We encourage families to enquire directly with your preferred centre to learn more about the specific programmes available.
Multi-Sports
Introducing children to various sports and essential movement skills. They develop coordination, agility, and gross motor control through fun and engaging activities with balls, sticks, and rackets. This also nurtures values such as sportsmanship, teamwork, and resilience which are key to character building.
Music and Movement
Our music and movement programme engages the body and enhances balance, spatial awareness, and body coordination, while nurturing focus, creativity, and self-expression which are crucial for academic readiness and emotional well-being.
Art Exploration
Introducing children to art elements, techniques, and famous artists through age-appropriate, hands-on projects. Art promotes multisensory learning, sharpens fine motor skills, and fosters creative expression. Children gain confidence and cultural appreciation while exploring different art forms.
Third Language Enrichment - French, Japanese, Korean
In selected centres, children are exposed to French, Japanese, or Korean through lessons conducted by native-speaking teachers. Early multilingual experiences improve cognitive flexibility, memory, and global awareness. These classes prepare children for an increasingly interconnected world.
Early Coding and Logical Thinking
Our coding programme introduces preschoolers to early coding and problem-solving through hands-on activities.
